In 2001 Rebecca Pierce started painting and exhibiting full time. Since 2005, Pierce has exhibited overseas on an ongoing basis. This exposure to diverse markets has impacted on Pierce’s output.
The exploration of diverse mediums to amplify texture has been central to Pierce’s development. This can be seen by the use of impasto and other bulking mediums to create a third dimension. To further enhance this structure, contrast is pronounced and defined by aligning areas devoid of texture with areas of extreme texture.
Colour plays an integral part in Pierce’s work; throughout each series runs a palette of clean, un-muddied and most often hi-key colour.
As Pierce is untrained, experimentation through trial and error is fundamental to progression.
