The eighties was a controversial decade of boom and bust, overt excess and then a recession in Australia starting in 1987. For a seventeen-year-old, inadvertently starting a business whilst deferred from a Law Degree, being oblivious, living in a bubble of excitement and freedom was a fortuitous form of protection.
Rebecca had a major asset, the opportunity to observe her father, who having received a very limited education and was able to build many successful businesses through tenacity, resolve and hard work.
The images give a snapshot of colour, fun, shoulder pads and everything at high voltage. Rebecca did not return to complete her law degree.
